The Keyword Search and Advanced Search pages have their specific instructions. Keyword Search allows you to search for all the information fields at once for a given term or terms. Advanced Search allows for a targeted search to be performed in one or more specified fields.
The Search by Term page has three alphabetically organized options:
People: Last name changes are managed by creating two (or more) listings, one for each last name. This means that selecting any name ever used brings up all records related to that person. A Bio link appears when the People search engine is used (a work in progress). No matter the nature of the relationship to the record, only persons, not organizations, are listed.
- Creators: Numerous criteria are considered and included for Creator field entries, like creative control, editorial license, and whether the organizational representation is occurring. Persons, organization, or both combined are used in this field.
- Search Terms: These terms were created so that categories and subcategories can be searched. For example: Society | FUSLA | Minutes.
Lists appear chronologically when you use Keyword Search, Advanced Search, or the alphabetized links. However, circa dates appear at the end of chronological lists.
When search terms appear in the various fields of a record as hot links, these lists do not produce a chronological listing of records. The utility of these unchronologized lists needs to be assessed on an individual basis.
